About Cattywampus Life

Hi, there! My name is Stephanie and this is my blog. WELCOME!

For any newbies who find me, I am going to include some of my favorite writing posts from over the years in my Oldies But Goodies section, and you can also check the archives for some that I’ve moved over from prior writing on the ‘net.

Now, if you are family or friends who personally know me, SURPRISE–I blog! I guess the cat is out of the bag, so to speak. And, well, this whole open-blogging thing feels a little exposing to me, but I will try to get used to it. Give me time. Before you know it, I’ll be screaming in my best Kramer voice, “I’m out there, Jerry, and I’m loving every minute of it!” But, until I get to that point, if you see me cringe at the mention of a blog post when we meet, just know this too shall pass.

For those who don’t know me, how about some background? I grew up in a tiny town in rural North Texas, where I spent my youth playing many different sports, performing as a baton twirler in the band  (and playing an instrument in the off-season), and wearing lots and lots of hats. Consequently, I’ve grown up into an adult who over-commits herself to high heaven and is constantly trying to find that balance between too much and not enough. This quest often leaves me a bit off-kilter, hence the name Cattywampus Life. (Oh, and the cat reference also ties me to my maiden name and previous cat lives!)

I have two kids, a son who is ten and a daughter who is 5. I fight that battle of showing every freaking cute picture I take of them on here because I am scrapbooker too (check my Crafty Cat tab for some of my work soon), but also wanting to protect them somewhat from all the creepy pervs that lurk in cyberspace. So, hopefully, I will find a nice safe way to share the most important things in the world to me, but most often it may be in words only.

My husband is my best friend and unwittingly provides a constant source of humor-filled writing content for me, and yet remains to be a pretty darn good sport about it all. If you know him at all, you’ll know he constantly teases me. So, I figure, a few sassy stories online is really not too much to ask.

I’ve worked in many writing fields over the years, including news producer, technical editor and writer, magazine editor, and freelance writer/jack-of-all-writing-trades. The latter seems to have stuck with me as I’ve transitioned from staying home full-time, to part-time writing gigs, to now having more free time to write with both my kids in some form of school each day.

I enjoy contributing to several review blogs and am approached often to review products as well (see the Cattywampus Tested tab for all reviews). I’m also currently doing PR/Events Coordination as the City Ambassador of Houston Moms Like Me, a support site for moms in my neck of the woods.

Drop me a email and tell me what you think of this new site and I always welcome comments from my peeps! Thanks for stopping by and DO come again!
