Disney on Ice’s 100 Year Celebration - Don’t Miss It!
I was thrilled when I was approached by Mom Central to attend and review Disney on Ice. My husband and I had taken our son when he was about 4 to the show and he absolutely loved it. This year’s 100 Years of Magic show promised to be jam-packed with more than 65 great Disney characters from 18 classic Disney movies. I knew that my 5-year-old daughter would absolutely love it, and my son would love going back to see it again even at his ripe old age of 10.
The show did not disappoint and neither did Mom Central. The day of the show, I got a surprise in the mail. The program ($15 at the show) was more like a color magazine of gorgeous photos from the show. My kids loved pouring over it as we drove through nightmarish Houston traffic to the ice show.
I got a bigger treat at the show than I expected though. My daughter has informed me this year that she is no longer into Disney Princesses. As she entered kindergarten, she seemed bound and determined to shed any of her old interests for more “big girl” things. I was so sad to pack up her Disney Princess dress-up dresses for a relative’s daughter. I was not ready for her to grow up like that.
Disney on Ice opened and soon got to a wonderful sequence of the Disney Princesses with their beaus all dancing together. As they skated, my daughter came and sat in my lap and nuzzled up to me sweetly. She could not take her eyes off of Belle, Cinderella, Snow White and Ariel. It was a priceless moment I got with my little girl that I didn’t expect to, and one I will always remember.

Other favorite parts of the show were the Toy Story green army men (fantastic choreography!), the dancing Genies from Aladdin, Finding Nemo, the Incredibles, and the Pinocchio scene with a whale so enormous it was almost the size of the icy stage! My kids and my husband and I were captivated!
It had been too long since we did something like this as a family. I am so grateful to Mom Central and Feld Family Entertainment for the chance to enjoy this amazing show with my kids. Be sure to check out the last few days of the show in Houston or see when it is coming to your city!

In some ways, I'm a walking cliche--a suburban mommy blogger of two kids just trying to keep my crazy yet wonderful life in balance. But, I'm also a career writer who has just returned to fulltime work in the software industry, I'm a wife going through a divorce after almost 20 years of marriage, and I'm discovering that life is full of surprises. But, mostly I am learning to look at the world through funny glasses with my tongue sticking out. Pfffftttt!
