Six Steps to Get Your Blog-Jo Back On
If you are a former reader and commenter of this or my previous blog, no doubt you’ve wondered what became of me? Did I meet an untimely early demise? Did I write the great American novel and find myself too famous and busy to have a cattywampus life anymore?
No, I just lost my blogging moJo and I’m having a heck of a time getting it back. You might say, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!
OK, enough with the goofy talk. Here are my patented six steps to get back to blogging. If this works, maybe I’ll counsel other wayward bloggers and make something of myself for a change:
Step 1: Um, actually BLOG for a change.
And, I don’t mean once-a-month blogging. I mean DAILY. Remember when you used to write something each day?
Step 2: Get the hell off of Facebook.
Facebook is fun but it has ruined your blogging. OK, yes, you are addicted, especially to all the word games and also to finding long lost friends. But, just leave your status and get the heck out of dodge, m’kay?
Step 3: Just when you’re almost completely out of the blogging world, somehow get invited through work to attend a blogging conference expo. See one of your first blogging friend/contacts there. Marvel at how interesting a ballroom full of articulate and smart blogging women reminds you of why you loved to blog in the first place. Then, go read about what everyone though about the conference sessions that you didn’t get to attend!
Step 4: Buy this book while at said conference by Mighty Girl herself.
You know, just in case you suffer from FaceBook Brain one night. (EDITED–It helps when you link the book, eh? And, I wonder why I have had trouble blogging lately?)
Step 5: Dude–go visit blogs again? Hello?
Remember all those blogging friends you made for several years straight? Yeah, visit. Comment. See what the heck they are up to! And, later on–if need be, bribe and beg them to come back and visit you again soon!
Step 6: Vow to blog daily for one month.
You heard me, folks. Whether I have any readers or commenters or not, I am going to try to put up a blog post every day for one month to get back into this groove. I miss my writing. So, consider this “Cattywampus’s Own Private NaBloMoPo!” (If you’ve participated in NaBloMoPo, you will understand that ridiculous acronym. If you have not, just know I’ll post daily, all righty?)
With that said, I’ll see you tomorrow!!!

In some ways, I'm a walking cliche--a suburban mommy blogger of two kids just trying to keep my crazy yet wonderful life in balance. But, I'm also a career writer who has just returned to fulltime work in the software industry, I'm a wife going through a divorce after almost 20 years of marriage, and I'm discovering that life is full of surprises. But, mostly I am learning to look at the world through funny glasses with my tongue sticking out. Pfffftttt!

Babs–I’m such a doofus. I even noted to myself that I needed to go and link that book up and then forgot. Thanks so much! I’ve linked it now!
Also, so great to see your comments, Carol and Angela!
