It keeps gettin’ better…
Not to quote Christina Aguilera here, but…
Tell me if you would be solidly convinced that you have the worst luck in the world if this happened to you…
I’m trying to maneuver in my monster SUV (that I’ve wanted to get rid of almost since I got it) out of a tricky parking lot across two lanes to make a left turn. I get in the right lane, and just assume I’ll drive down and turn left later because it’s too crowded to try for the left lane.
The guy behind me in the left lane frantically honks and waves me to go ahead of him.
Eh…OK, I think. I guess if he’s being nice, I can try to get there. I cut the wheel very sharply to get in the left lane and start to move forward when I hear a loud scratching sound.
Yep, I’d scraped the corner bumper of the car in front of me, who wasn’t rolling up because of a large equipment truck in front of her.
But, wait, folks, that’s not all! Not only do a scrape this car, but when I look back and roll my window down to tell the driver I’m sorry and I’ll be pulling over to the left after the intersection, I see that it is one of my long-time best friends…in her only-about-a-year-old beautiful SUV.
And, she’s got her mouth open and is starting to cry. Because I’ve scratched up her beautiful car. And, she was doing nothing. Just sitting there nicely waiting for the light to change, minding her own business.
And, I have to wave at her and she sees it is me. By the time we get to the parking lot to inspect the damages, I am hysterical. It all came bubbling up for me, thanks to my hormones, a round of lousy luck, 2-3 weeks of horrid insomnia, bickering at home, a horrible yearbook deadline for my school voluteer work, etc.
In summary, shoot me now. Will you?

In some ways, I'm a walking cliche--a suburban mommy blogger of two kids just trying to keep my crazy yet wonderful life in balance. But, I'm also a career writer who has just returned to fulltime work in the software industry, I'm a wife going through a divorce after almost 20 years of marriage, and I'm discovering that life is full of surprises. But, mostly I am learning to look at the world through funny glasses with my tongue sticking out. Pfffftttt!

Oh, bless your heart! I’m so sorry, too. Sometimes it only takes a minor incident to make us weep like crazy. Hope you’re better now!

Yes, it didn’t help that I was totally hormonal at the time. My poor friend!
